Richard III is a film adaptation of William Shakespeare's play, set in 1930s England. The film retains the essence of the original work, but adds a shocking energy and aesthetic by recreating an England reminiscent of the Germany of the dawn of World War II. The story focuses on Richard, a man obsessed with power, who uses his intelligence and cunning to achieve and maintain power at any cost. The film features an all-star cast led by Ian McKellen, Annette Bening and Robert Downey Jr.
