Doctor Sam Beckett is trapped in an experiment that makes him leap between eras. In this first season, Sam temporarily inhabits the bodies of different people at specific historical moments; Al, his holographic guide, helps him correct mistakes of the past to move toward the next leap while he seeks to return to his own life.
