«Quadrophenia» is the film by Franc Roddam (1979), starring Phil Daniels, Leslie Ash and Sting, on DVD.
Jimmy, a young mod in 1964 London, lives his gang as a way of life: scooters, pills and immaculate clothes. The trip to Brighton and the pitched battle against the rockers confront him with the contradictions of his own tribe. Inspired by The Who's 1973 rock opera, the group's music underpins the story.
Special 2-disc edition in original version with subtitles. Sound in English 2.0 Surround and subtitles in fifteen languages, including Spanish and Catalan. Not recommended for under-18s.
Of interest to fans of The Who and mod culture, and to teenagers wanting a glimpse of 1960s British cinema.
