Ping Pong is an exhilarating and endearing Japanese comedy-drama about two mismatched childhood friends. Peco, the cocky and outgoing star, and Smile, the reserved and ironically named player, navigate the trials of adolescent angst while moving ever-closer to a major table tennis tournament that tests their friendship. Based on the manga by Taiyo Matsumoto and directed by Fumihiko Sori, the film is celebrated for its arresting imagery, unpredictable plot, and exciting sporting sequences.
