The Hoovers are a dysfunctional family forced to cross the United States in a battered Volkswagen van so that Olive, the seven-year-old daughter, can take part in the Little Miss Sunshine children's beauty pageant. The journey brings out the contradictions of each member, including a failed father, a depressed uncle and a brother who has taken a vow of silence.
Directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. Twentieth Century Fox Blu-ray edition with audio in Spanish and English and subtitles in Spanish and English, among other languages.
Suitable for those seeking a bittersweet comedy about family and acceptance, with an ensemble cast and a tone close to independent cinema.
