«Patton» is the film by Franklin J. Schaffner (1969), starring George C. Scott and Karl Malden, on DVD.
Follows George Patton, feared by the German command, in his African campaign against Rommel and in the Allied advance through Europe after the Normandy landings. It also shows his eccentricity: he designed his own uniforms, carried a revolver with ivory grips and believed he had been a warrior in past lives; his unstable character marked his career.
It won 8 Academy Awards in 1970, including Best Picture; one of them went to George C. Scott for his performance. Running time 2 hours and 44 minutes. Suitable for all audiences.
Recommended for fans of classic war films and biographies of historical leaders of World War II.
