Henri 'Papillon' Charrière, a man wrongly convicted of murder, is sent to a brutal penal colony in French Guiana. During the perilous journey, he forms an alliance with Louis Dega, a counterfeiter, offering him protection in exchange for the financial help needed to plan his escape. Together, they face inhumane conditions and constant surveillance in a desperate struggle for freedom. Directed by Franklin J. Schaffner and starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman, this cinematic masterpiece is an epic tale of survival, friendship, and resilience based on the autobiographical novel by Henri Charrière.
