A masterpiece of Italian neorealism directed by Vittorio De Sica, 'Miracle in Milan' (1951) tells the story of Toto, an orphan boy who joins a community of beggars on the outskirts of Milan. When oil is discovered on their land, Toto uses the magic of a white dove to protect his friends from the greed of the powerful Mr. Mobbi. This film blends fantastic elements with the social critique characteristic of De Sica's great trilogy, alongside 'Bicycle Thieves' and 'Umberto D.'.
