«Mil cretinos» is the film by Ventura Pons (2010), an adaptation of stories by Quim Monzó, in a special 2-DVD edition with «El porqué de las cosas».
Two films by Ventura Pons adapted from Quim Monzó. «Mil cretinos» weaves fifteen stories, some period pieces, that look with irony at pain, old age, death and human foolishness. «El porqué de las cosas» brings together fifteen episodes on human behaviour —desire, submission, jealousy, passion, faith— between two fantastical tales.
«Mil cretinos» (2010) runs 92 minutes; «El porqué de las cosas» (1995), 90. Audio in Catalan and Spanish, with subtitles in Spanish, English and French. Not recommended for under-12s and under-18s.
A double bill for those who appreciate acerbic humour, the portrayal of the human condition and Ventura Pons's adaptations of Quim Monzó.
