Synopsis of Marvin's Room

Sisters Bessie and Lee have not spoken for twenty years. Bessie nurses their ailing father Marvin and eccentric aunt Ruth in Florida, while Lee struggles to bring up her troublesome son Hank in Ohio. When Bessie's doctor tells her that she has leukaemia, she asks Lee to come and stay in the hope of obtaining a bone marrow transplant. The sisters are thus reunited, but their reconciliation is not an easy one.
