«Maruxa» is the musical film by Juan de Orduña starring María José Alonso, Ramón Pons and Mary Francis, on DVD, in the Las Zarzuelas collection.
Adaptation of the zarzuela of the same name by Amadeo Vives: shepherds Maruxa and Pablo live happily until their mistress Rosa, infatuated with Pablo, separates the couple by taking Maruxa as a servant. Antonio, Rosa's boyfriend, tries to court Maruxa out of spite, but foreman Rufo brings the shepherds back together and foils his plans.
Screenplay by Manuel Tamayo and musical direction by Federico Moreno Torroba. PAL 4:3 DVD released by Suevia Films.
