«La sonrisa de mi madre» is the film by Marco Bellocchio (2002), starring Sergio Castellitto, Jacqueline Lusting and Chiara Conti, on DVD.

Ernesto, a painter and illustrator of children's stories, lives apart from his wife and very close to his son. When he discovers that his family is promoting the cause of his mother's canonisation and that the Vatican asks him to testify, he faces a moral dilemma between his past and his convictions as a free-thinking atheist artist.

It runs 102 minutes, is spoken in Spanish and is an Italian production from 2002. It is a Region 2 DVD that competed at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival and won the David di Donatello for Best Film.
