Set in rural Spain in 1936, just before the outbreak of the Civil War, this moving film tells the story of the deep friendship between Moncho, an eight-year-old boy starting school, and his teacher, Don Gregorio. Through the lessons of life and nature that the teacher imparts, Moncho discovers the world with curiosity and wonder, while the country's political climate begins to fracture, testing the values and the relationship between them in an inevitably tragic historical context.
