General Custer is dead, along with hundreds of soldiers and officers in the Little Big Horn massacre. The Sioux and Cheyenne are at war. More than ten thousand Indians, led by Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse, are preparing to confront the United States cavalry, making it difficult for stagecoaches to pass through the desert. Veteran Captain Nathan Brittles (John Wayne) counts from his fort the scarce six days he has left to retire from military life. Directed by John Ford, this film is a western classic and the second installment of his cavalry trilogy, winner of the Oscar for best photography.
