«La Fille du régiment» is Gaetano Donizetti's opera recorded live at the Royal Opera House, directed by Laurent Pelly and Robin Lough, on DVD.
This 2007 production captures Donizetti's comic opera about Marie, a young woman raised by a French regiment, and her romance with Tonio. The performance at London's Covent Garden features Natalie Dessay and Juan Diego Flórez in the leading roles, with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Royal Opera House conducted by Bruno Campanella.
The recording lasts 132 minutes. The DVD includes LPCM stereo, Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 sound, with subtitles in Spanish, English, French, German and Italian.
A good choice for opera and classical music fans who want a modern stage production with two great voices of the bel canto repertoire.
