«Juana la Loca» is the film by Vicente Aranda (2001), starring Pilar López de Ayala, Daniele Liotti and Rosana Pastor, on DVD.
The film follows Juana of Castile, daughter of the Catholic Monarchs, from her journey to Flanders in 1496 to enter a political marriage with Philip the Handsome. Her passion clashes with his infidelities and court conspiracies; that jealousy and dynastic pressure end in her progressive isolation and her tragic reputation as mad.
Edition from the collection «El cine español año a año (1978-2007)», distributed by Tribanda Pictures, with audio in Spanish (stereo) and rated not recommended for under-13s.
Historical drama for those who enjoy recreations of the Catholic Monarchs' court and Spanish cinema from the early 2000s.
