«Jane» is the film by Julian Jarrold (2007), starring Anne Hathaway, James McAvoy and Julie Walters, on DVD.
The film focuses on the youth of British writer Jane Austen, before she achieved fame. Jane meets the young Irishman Tom Lefroy and a romance arises between them that clashes with social conventions and family obligations. That relationship, as the film tells it, would influence the author and feed the sensibility of her future novels.
Running time: 118 minutes; 1 DVD disc. Audio is in English and French (Dolby Digital 5.1), with an additional French DTS 5.1 track and French subtitles.
For fans of biographical cinema and period romantic dramas.
