«Intolerancia» is the silent film by David W. Griffith (1916), starring Lillian Gish, Miriam Cooper and Mae Marsh, on DVD.
Through parallel editing, the film interweaves four stories separated by centuries —the fall of Babylon, the Passion of Christ, France in 1572 and a 1914 drama—, united by the image of a mother rocking a cradle, and becomes a plea against intolerance and its consequences.
PAL multi-region format, with Dolby Digital stereo sound and subtitles in Spanish and English. Released by Divisa Home Video in the Orígenes del Cine collection.
For cinephiles and film scholars who want to discover the origins of cinematic language.
