Set in 1942, this intense war film tells the story of a small Australian battalion tasked with defending the strategic fortress of Tobruk against the unstoppable advance of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel's troops in North Africa. Under the command of Captain MacRoberts, played by Richard Burton, the group must hold their ground against all odds in a desperate mission to stop the enemy's advance toward the Suez Canal. Directed by Robert Wise and featuring James Mason as Rommel, this is a classic war film that captures the tension and heroism on the African front during World War II.
