Set in republican Rome around 493 BC, it tells the story of Sicinius, a tribune who allies with the king of the Volsci to seize power. Coriolanus, Rome's bravest warrior, discovers the betrayal but, victim of a plot, is condemned to exile and ends up fighting temporarily alongside the Volsci to teach his ungrateful countrymen a lesson.
