«Halfaouine, l'enfant des terrasses» is the film by Férid Boughedir (1990), starring Mohamed Driss and Néné Katzaras, on DVD.
Set in the working-class neighbourhood of Halfaouine, in Tunis, it follows Noura, a twelve-year-old boy living between childhood and the adult awakening. His reluctance to stop going with his mother into the women's bathhouse shows, with a close and sensitive gaze, the relations between men and women in Tunisian society.

Will appeal to those who enjoy coming-of-age stories set in the Maghreb and Tunisian social cinema of the nineties.
