In this heartwarming German comedy, a young man tries to protect his mother, a fervent supporter of the communist regime, from the truth about the fall of the Berlin Wall and the radical changes transforming East Germany. To prevent a shock that could be fatal due to her delicate health, he creates an elaborate charade that recreates the socialist world she longs for. With memorable performances and an original story, 'Goodbye, Lenin!' is a reflection on nostalgia, family, and identity in times of change.
