«Gomorra» is the film by Matteo Garrone (2008), starring Salvatore Abruzzese, Simone Sacchettino and Vincenzo Altamura, on DVD.
Adaptation of Roberto Saviano's novel, the film interweaves five stories in Naples and Caserta. Its characters live trapped by the rules of the System, the Camorra, in a violent landscape where drug trafficking, waste disposal and the textile business cross paths, with few chances of leading a normal life.
Two discs; 132 minutes; original Italian version; subtitles in Spanish and Catalan. It won the Grand Prix of the Jury at Cannes and five European Film Awards. Not recommended for under-18s.
For adult viewers who appreciate European realist thrillers and adaptations of Saviano's reportage.
