In 1971, struggling writer Clifford Irving promises his publisher an authorized biography of the reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes. Despite never having met Hughes, Irving fabricates a story that spirals into a complex web of lies, forcing him to risk everything in one of the most audacious media scandals of the 1970s. Directed by Lasse Hallström and starring Richard Gere, this film is a compelling thriller based on true events that examines the thin line between truth and fiction.
