Adaptation of the work by Ramón María del Valle-Inclán set in rural Galicia at the beginning of the 20th century. To escape poverty, Mari Gaila, the sexton's wife, uses a hydrocephalic child as a fairground attraction; that business pits her against her sister-in-law and plunges her into a world ruled by the basest passions.
