This DVD features an exceptional concert held on October 27, 2007, at the Vatican's Paul VI Audience Hall in honour of Pope Benedict XVI. Conducted by the internationally acclaimed maestro Mariss Jansons, the Symphonieorchester und Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks performs Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, preceded by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina's motet 'Tu es Petrus'. The release also includes the documentary 'Götterfunken für den Papst' (Divine Spark for the Pope), which provides a behind-the-scenes look at the preparations, interviews with the musicians, and footage from the event.
