During a hurricane, a group of gangsters led by Johnny Rocco takes refuge in a hotel on the Florida coast and holds the occupants hostage. Among them are Nora Temple and her invalid father-in-law; the veteran Frank McCloud, a hotel guest, ends up being the only one able to stand up to Rocco. Adaptation of a work by Maxwell Anderson.
