«Bienvenido Mr. Chance» is the 1979 film by Hal Ashby, starring Peter Sellers and Shirley MacLaine, on DVD.
Chance, a gardener secluded in a mansion, knows the world only through television. When his elderly employer dies, his observations about gardening are interpreted as profound political reflections and, unintentionally, he becomes an influential adviser. The film ironically satirises the superficiality of power and the media.
The edition includes audio in English and Spanish, subtitles in Spanish, and runs 125 minutes. Melvyn Douglas won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor (1980) for this film. Suitable for all audiences.
Recommended for lovers of satirical comedy with a political backdrop and of classic late-1970s cinema.
