«Bellísima» is the film by Luchino Visconti (1951), starring Anna Magnani, Walter Chiari and Tina Apicella, on DVD.
In postwar Italian cinema, Maddalena Cecconi dreams of turning her daughter María into a star and, against her husband's wishes, enrols her in a casting at Cinecittà. She pays for dance and hairdressing lessons, but on the day of the audition she watches from the hall as the girl bursts into tears before the jury.
Published by Vellavisión in 2008, the digitally remastered edition runs 110 minutes and includes audio in Italian (Dolby Digital 2.0) and Spanish (Dolby Digital 2.0 and 5.1).
A work for those who enjoy classic Italian drama and Anna Magnani's performances.
