«Barrio» is the Spanish film by Fernando León de Aranoa (1998), on DVD.
The film follows three friends, Javi, Manu and Rai, during a summer in a marginal neighbourhood on the outskirts of Madrid. With plenty of free time and few expectations, their everyday experiences portray poverty, social inequality and the difficulty young people face in escaping that environment in late-1990s Spain.
PAL DVD edition. Not recommended for under-13s.
