«Aleksandra» is the film by Aleksandr Sokurov (2007), starring Galina Vishnevskaya, on DVD.
Aleksandra Nikolaevna travels to Chechnya to visit her grandson, a Russian officer stationed at a military base. During her stay she lives among the soldiers and glimpses a masculine environment without tenderness or comfort, where time passes on the edge of life and death; despite everything, that community remains profoundly human.
Published by Cameo in 2014, it includes original audio in Russian and Chechen with Spanish subtitles and is classified as not recommended for children under 12.
A film for those seeking a war drama far from action and with a vocation for human portraiture, as indicated by its selection at the official competition of Cannes 2007.
