Remco Campert was a Dutch author, poet and columnist.
Remco Campert was a central figure in the Dutch literary movement known as the Vijftigers.
Born in The Hague, Campert grew up in an artistic environment as the son of poet Jan Campert and actress Joeki Broedelet.
Throughout his prolific career, he published over one hundred works ranging from poetry to novels.
In 1950, he co-founded the literary magazine Braak, a key space for the avant-garde of his time.
Although he began his career as a poet, his style evolved toward longer narratives and the writing of novels.
