«Vida de Martín Pijo» is the picaresque novel by Miguel Baquero, published by ACVF Editorial - La Vieja Factoría in paperback (124 pages, in Spanish).
Martín Pijo, a young man from a good family raised on high principles, goes out into the world when his family's ruin casts him onto the street. His naivety clashes with a society that rewards opportunism, deceit and influence. With humour and colloquial language, the novel updates the classic picaresque in present-day Spain.
The work was first published anonymously in 1999; this is the second, corrected and expanded edition.
A novel for those who appreciate social satire, humour with critical intent and the picaresque tradition.
