«Verdad» is the young adult novel by Care Santos, published by edebé in paperback (268 pages, in Spanish).
After being acquitted at fourteen of a murder he didn't commit, Eric leaves the juvenile detention centre determined to rebuild his life. Reintegrating means studying, finding work and resisting the pressure of a neighbourhood that distrusts him; Xenia, who already reached out to him before, becomes his support again and makes him wonder if love is enough to overcome prejudice.
Second instalment of the «Mentira» saga, part of the Periscopio collection (no. 75) and recommended for readers aged 14 and up.
For young readers looking for a realistic novel about second chances, the pressure of one's surroundings and the weight of prejudice.
