«Un día en la vida de Ishak Butmic» is the novel by Jordi Tiñena i Amorós published by Onada Edicions in paperback, with 176 pages and in Catalan.
During the Balkan War, in a besieged Sarajevo, Ishak Butmic and his companion Zlatko —one lame, the other terminally ill— try to maintain a routine under the threat of a sniper. The novel follows the daily life of a group of characters trapped between the impact of the conflict and the uncertainty of the future, and denounces ethnic violence and the indifference with which the West viewed the war.
It belongs to the Maremàgnum collection (number 6). Winner of the Premi Ciutat d'Alzira de Novel·la 1994.
Recommended for readers aged 14 and over, especially for those seeking a human approach to war conflicts.
