«Tales from the Secret Annexe» is Anne Frank's collection of stories and essays, published by Halban Publishers in hardback (208 pages, in English).
It brings together short stories, fables, personal memories and an unfinished novel that Anne Frank wrote while hiding from the Nazis in the secret annexe. Beyond her famous diary, these texts show her humour, her uncompromising honesty and her wisdom, and reveal her development as a writer and her perceptive, compassionate gaze.
The original Dutch title is «Verhaaltjes, en gebeurtenissen uit het Achterhuis. Cady's leven» (1960); this 2010 edition brings back texts that had been out of print for years.
For those who already know Anne Frank's famous «Diary» and wish to broaden their knowledge of her as a writer.
