«Morir en Sevilla» is the historical novel by Nicolás Salas, published by Planeta in 1986 in paperback (250 pages, in Spanish).
Set in Seville during the tragic spring of 1936 and the first days of the military uprising, the novel reconstructs the atmosphere of «Sevilla la roja» through eleven characters, including the Swedish painter Per Torsten Jovienge, and portrays the misery of working-class neighbourhoods, the union conflict and the indifference of the upper classes.
It won the Ateneo de Sevilla Prize in 1986. It belongs to Planeta's Colección Autores Españoles e Hispanoamericanos.
A read for those seeking historical novels about the Spanish Civil War and the role of Seville in the 1936 uprising.
