«Monstre» is the autobiography of French actor Gérard Depardieu, published in French by Le Cherche Midi in paperback.
Depardieu starts from the image of a potter shaping a monster to let out what he carries inside, and turns that need into the book's central metaphor: you must let your own monsters out, or they will end up devouring you. In short sentences, the actor reviews his life, his craft and French cinema, and addresses artistic freedom, power and social criticism.
Published on 26 October 2017. The cover subtitle is «Plus libre encore...».
For fans of Gérard Depardieu and French cinema, as well as readers of biographies and actors' testimonies.
