«Miracle in the Andes» is the memoir by Nando Parrado, published by Orion in paperback (320 pages, in English).
In 1972, the plane carrying a Uruguayan rugby team to Chile crashed on a glacier in the Andes. Nando Parrado, one of the survivors, recounts in the first person the 72 days at high altitude, with extreme temperatures and no prospect of rescue, and the ten-day trek with a companion to cross the mountains in search of help.
The work was originally published in 2006; this paperback edition, subtitled '72 Days on the Mountain and My Long Trek Home', came out in April 2007.
For readers of memoirs and true survival stories: the first-person testimony of one of the protagonists of the Andes accident.

Fernando "Nando" Seler Parrado Dolgay is a Uruguayan businessman, producer, motivational speaker, author, television presenter, former rugby player, and a racing driver. He is one of the sixteen survivors of the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which crashed in the Andes on 13 October 1972. After spending more than two months trapped in the mountains with the other crash survivors, he, along with Roberto Canessa, climbed through the Andes mountains over 10 days to find help.
