«Middlesex» is the contemporary novel by Jeffrey Eugenides, published by Editorial Anagrama in hardback (680 pages, in Spanish).
Cal Stephanides was born as Calliope into a Greek family that emigrated to America and, as an adult, decides to tell his story. It all begins with his grandparents' flight after the war, in 1922: a saga spanning eight decades, with family secrets, gender identity and the Greek immigrant experience.
The work is part of Anagrama's Panorama de narrativas collection (no. 550), translated by Benito Gómez Ibáñez, and won the Pulitzer Prize in 2003.
For readers of contemporary fiction and family sagas; the novel combines historical memory, immigration and reflections on identity.
Jeffrey Kent Eugenides is an American author. He has written numerous short stories and essays, as well as three novels: The Virgin Suicides (1993), Middlesex (2002), and The Marriage Plot (2011).
