«Los Templarios: monjes y guerreros» is the historical chronicle by Piers Paul Read, published by Vergara Editor S.A. in paperback (399 pages, in Spanish).
A historical chronicle that separates myth from reality about the Knights Templar: it recounts their founding, their role in the Crusades, and their military and religious power, as well as their financial network that foreshadowed modern banking. The author also examines the trial against the order, the confessions under torture, and its suppression in 1312.
Spanish edition published in 2000; the English original, from 1999, was titled «The Templars: The Dramatic History of the Knights Templar, the Most Powerful Military Order of the Crusades».
Aimed at readers interested in medieval history, the Crusades, and religious military orders.
British writer (born 1941)
