«Libro de los Epigramas» is an anthology of epigrams by Marcus Valerius Martialis, translated by José Guillén and Fidel Argudo, published by Akal (362 pages).
The epigrams gathered in this volume are short poems by the Roman poet Martial, in which irony portrays daily life, customs, and society in ancient Rome. Love and social satire combine with wit and concision, and much of their comic force remains intact.
Aimed at readers of classical poetry and those who wish to glimpse daily life in Rome through satire.
