«Le silence de la mère» is the novel by Giosuè Calaciura, published in 2024 by Folio in paperback (384 pages, in French).
Faced with his father's sudden departure, Jesus leaves his mother and sets out to find him. He joins Delia's travelling circus and roams Judea under Roman occupation, where he encounters desire, love and injustice. Calaciura imagines a human Jesus, before the Gospels, in a novel about a family mystery and an extraordinary destiny.
The French edition is translated by Lise Chapuis; the original Italian title, «Io sono Gesù», was published in 2021.
For French-language readers seeking literary fiction with an earthly, intimate vision of Jesus.
