«La Tour des Anges» is the historical novel by Michel Peyramaure, published by France Loisirs in 1997 in hardback (in French).
The novel, set in Avignon in the 14th century, follows Julio Grimaldi, a peasant's son and Curia official, during the years when seven popes made the city the capital of Christendom (1309-1376).
