«La revolución del año mil» is the historical essay by Guy Bois, published by Grijalbo in paperback (208 pages, in Spanish).
Bois argues that the transition from the ancient world to feudalism was not a gradual evolution but a global rupture on the eve of the year 1000. Drawing on the documentation of Cluny Abbey and the microhistorical study of Lournard, he analyses the new distribution of power, the seigneurial system, the emergence of the market and the social ideology of the 10th century.
Originally published in 1989, it is part of the Libro de Mano collection from Grijalbo Mondadori and includes a foreword by Georges Duby.
For readers of medieval history and university studies interested in feudalism and the historiographical debate on the year 1000.
