One evening in Paris, a young woman has her handbag stolen. Laurent finds it the next day, abandoned in the street, near his bookstore. Although it no longer contains identification papers, it still contains a host of objects that provide clues about their owner: photos, notes, a bottle of perfume... Anxious to find her, the man improvises as a detective. As he deciphers the red notebook containing Laure's secret thoughts, the treasure hunt turns into a love quest that will change their lives.
