«La escapada» is the autobiographical novel by Jeanne Cordelier, published by Editorial Noguer, S. in hardback (383 pages, in Spanish).
The novel focuses on the life of a prostitute in contemporary Paris and recounts, from a personal perspective, the harshness of that world. The direct style, without moralism or concessions, and the rawness of the testimony made the novel a literary success for its authenticity.
The edition includes a preface by Benoîte Groult and the translation from French by Antonio Samons. The original title of «La escapada» is «La dérobade».
For readers of testimonial narrative and biographies seeking a direct, unidealized look at prostitution.
