«Elogio de la locura» is the satirical essay by Erasmo de Rotterdam, published by RBA in hardback (in Spanish).
In this satirical work, Erasmo de Rotterdam gives voice to Folly, who presents herself as a necessary force present in all spheres of life. Her speech, ironic and provocative, pokes fun at the customs, institutions and beliefs of her time, and leads the reader to view human nature with critical distance.
This 1995 RBA edition belongs to the History of Literature collection and includes an introduction by José Luis Vidal and a translation, prologue and notes by Antonio Espina.
A work of interest for those who enjoy philosophy and satirical literature with a critical undertone.
Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamus, commonly known in English as Erasmus of Rotterdam or simply Erasmus, was a Dutch humanist, Catholic theologian, and pioneering philologist and educationalist. He was, through his writings and translations, one of the most influential scholars of the Northern Renaissance and a major figure of Western culture.
