«El último papa» is John Hogue's essay on religious prophecies, published by Edaf S.A. in paperback (456 pages, in Spanish).
John Hogue examines the 111 Latin mottos attributed to Saint Malachy, a 12th-century Irish bishop, which supposedly predict the succession of popes from Celestine II to the end of the Catholic Church. The author combines this prophetic study with a history of the papacy and an assessment of the past and future of Catholicism, seasoned with a touch of irony.
Originally published in English as «The Last Pope» in 1998, it was translated into Spanish by Alejandro Pareja Rodríguez for this 1999 Edaf edition.
Aimed at readers of religion and spirituality interested in prophecies and the history of the papacy.
