«El rapto de las sabinas» is the mystery novel by Francisco García Pavón, published by Planeta in 1996 in paperback, with 264 pages, in Spanish.
Manuel González, alias «Plinio», chief of the Municipal Guard of Tomelloso, investigates the abduction of some young Swedish women and the appearance of an enigmatic Basque. The novel blends police investigation with humour and a costumbrista portrait of Spain at the time.
The book is the fourth instalment in the «Plinio» series, originally published in 1968. The novel won the Premio de la Crítica de Narrativa Castellana in 1969.
For readers of classic Spanish crime fiction who appreciate humour, suspense and rural costumbrista settings.
